When Belen and I initially started to talk about this Mother’s Day shoot, we both agreed we wanted to get little ones involved, because what would Mother’s Day be without kids?! I, of course, immediately volunteered my boys and my dining room. We love to make pancakes together on quiet weekend mornings. It’s such a fun and interactive activity that helps me engage with my kids in the kitchen – they just love to help mix, measure and pour! They had so much fun creating works of art with their pancakes; you can tell they’ve had some practice! You know what, life is messy and not always perfect and these images are such a wonderful representation of that. As a mom, sometimes you just have to roll with it and worry about cleaning up the mess later! Life is too short not to have a little fun.
I was really inspired by rose gold for the design, so when I came across those killer measuring cups at Anthropologie, I knew I was on to something. I kept all of the table accessories in a fun, springy palette that would allow for our yummy array of toppings to shine. Classic white plates from Crate & Barrel were a must so we could see the kids’ creations for all their glory! The beautiful hand lettering was done by Jeannie at Simply Scripted Ink and fit so perfectly with our palette!
I’m lucky enough to be celebrating my sixth Mother’s Day this year. We have a standing tradition of (wait for it) BRUNCH at our favorite neighborhood spot and I look forward to it every year!
Wishing all of the amazing mamas out there a very happy Mother's Day! This mom job is no joke, but is also the most rewarding. I wouldn't trade it for anything!
